7 Random Things

Claudia Babb "tagged" me to write 7 Random things about myself...here goes--

1. I loved the New Kids on the Block in junior high and am SO excited they have reunited. My friends and I have been on the phone discussing the fact that we would love to have a reunion of our own at one of their reunion concerts! Ty thinks this is embarrassing...I say they have the "right stuff!"

2. I have a minor in Spanish, but unfortunately do not remember much of it at all. The old adage that if you don't use it, you lose it is very true in my case.

3. I've been to China--the summer after college, I was blessed to go on a mission trip to the Philippines and I absolutely loved it. I wholeheartedly considered staying to do full time mission work there. On the way back we got to visit Hong Kong and China. Hong Kong was too busy for me, but I found the China countryside to be beautiful.

4. I really am a homebody...I love a good Friday night at home--eating take-out and watching a movie with Ty and Jake.

5. Garth Brooks and I had the same 7th grade English teacher and Calculus teacher. We're from the same home town of Yukon, Oklahoma--we have a main street named after him as well as a big message on the water tower about him.

6. I am easily addicted to TV. My all time favorite shows are "Dawson's Creek," "Friends," and "Gilmore Girls." The writing on all three was so clever and sharp, and I never get tired of watching re-runs of them.

7. In college I accidentally ran into Mikel Gorbachev (literally). He spoke at Harding my Junior year and my friend Brian Hannel and I were running through the student center and through the Heritage center when he came out of a door and we ran right into him. We were so stunned, we started laughing, and some secret service whisked him right back into the room he came from. Now that is pretty random!

Now I tag Kelsey, JoDee, and Jenny S.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Today we had our inaugural playgroup with our church friends at King's Orchard just north of Magnolia. Its a beautiful orchard with a great strawberry crop this month. Later in the spring, they will have blueberries and blackberries--we may have to go back then. In college I was "miss organizer" and would always plan nights out for our group of friends with my roommate Sallie. We planned many Friday night trips to Little Rock to eat at Steak-n-Shake and go see movies at the Tandy 10. Every year in May we through a huge end of the year party at the lake at Heber Springs for a big cookout and devotional. Maybe it was because we were a bit bossy, but we loved planning events. We've talked about planning a big Harding reunion soon to try to get our friends together again.

Anyway, I guess my old organizing nature has come out lately again so I decided to try to organize a playgroup at church and meet twice a month on Fridays. Strawberry picking was our first event and the weather was absolutely beautiful! Last night's weather said we had a 100% chance of rain this morning, but the skies are blue and the sun is shining! I'm sad I didn't get a picture of the whole group, but we had 8 moms and their kids come and I'm pretty sure all of the kids had a great time. Jake picked a few strawberries, but also just liked playing in the dirt and rocks--that's my boy! Here are a few pictures of Jake...I also couldn't resist posting the one I took of the triplets in their wagon.
