Fun with Poppy and Gigi

We were blessed this weekend with a visit from my parents. I hadn't seen them since May so we were so glad to see them, and I know they were more than ready to see Jake. Jake shined all weekend and learned some new tricks to impress his Oklahoma grandparents. My mom taught him to give her "knuckles" instead of "five," and Jake thought that was so cool. He also learned how to climb up in the kitchen chairs by himself and then even on up to the table. He is such a little climber. Last weekend he even climbed out of his crib for the first time...I think we're in trouble! He started using a few more words as well this weekend. He is usually very content just to sign whatever he wants, and we've been working so hard to get him to use his words as well. He said several different words for my mom including "Bible" which she thought was the best. He also said "Gigi" and "Papa." Originally, my mom was supposed to be Grammy, but my nephew Hendrix instead on naming her Gigi and the name has stuck.
Friday night we went to eat at Rockfish and then went over to show my parents the new fountains. I hadn't brought Jake his swimsuit so I just let him play in his clothes not thinking he'd really get in the water that much...I obviously was wrong! He got soaked but a had an absolute blast!

Saturday we all watched the OU football game together. They had brought Jake an OU jersey which I know brought the Sooners good luck because they played so well :) Jake learned to do the touchdown sign and did that all afternoon.

Here is a picture of Jake last year watching his first OU football game and then here he is this year...How he has grown! Last year we were so worried about him not gaining weight and now he could pass for a little fullback for the Sooners :)

My mom got my dad an I-pod last year for his birthday and he loves it...He wanted to share the fun with Jake who thought he was so grown up walking around with it and wearing his Poppy's headphones.

Sunday we went to church and then Al and Jonesa came over for lunch so Jake had four grandparents to watch him perform. We got out my keyboard (which I have always had the best intentions of learning to play) and let Jake play. He was hilarious...he would turn his head back and forth like Stevie Wonder and then adjust all of the settings to play all of the synthesizer noises. Every 30 seconds he would stop and have us applaud and then he'd start again. Maybe he'll take after his Grandma Jonesa and Aunt Destin and be a bit musical :)

We had a wonderful weekend...family is a blessing!
