This past weekend my parents and niece, Disney, came to visit. The kids loved their time with Gigi and Poppy and with Disney. We went to Market Street, ate ice cream, played in the pool, and shopped on Friday and then Saturday went to Galveston. Ty took my dad on a kayak fishing trip Saturday morning. My dad loves to kayak and was excited for an adventure in the gulf. He ended up catching the biggest fish of the day as well. My mom, Disney, and the kids and I spent the morning at the strand and then met them for lunch. After lunch we went to the beach to play. Jake loved the sand and the waves! This was Grace's first trip to the beach and she took a little convincing to like the experience but ended up having a great time.
Disney will be 14 in September and is currently working on editing her first novel which will be published early next year. It's amazing that someone her age has done this! She let me read her manuscript and be a "lay editor." I'm super proud of her and can't wait to buy a copy of her book!
My Dad's birthday is tomorrow so we celebrated early and made him a carrot cake to celebrate.
