Labor Day Weekend Fun

We had a wonderful Labor Day weekend because my parents came up from Oklahoma to see us (really to see Jake!). The weather cooperated so we were able to spend a lot of time in the pool which my dad loved. Saturday night we took Jake to his first college football game to see Rice University play. Someone from work had given Ty free tickets, and we've been wanting to go because one of my former students (and tennis players), Clark Fangmeier, is their kicker. Jake was having a great time until a big storm came, and they had to clear the field and stands. We only got to stay for part of the first quarter and didn't see much of the game. It was fun nonetheless because we ate dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Rice Village, D'Amigos. Sunday after church Ty's parents came over and we all sat around and literally just watched Jake for a few hours and then swam some more. Its amazing how a small person can provide so many hours of entertainment!

Jake is seven months now and growing more and more and doing so well. He LOVES his baby food now and can easily down three jars a day. He sits and plays on his own and still scoots across the room on his back by arching his back and kicking his legs. He wants to crawl so badly and is getting close. I realize our lives will change dramatically when that happens :) He's very inquisitive like his dad and already is interested in how things work and are put together. Ty can't wait for the day he can play with legos with him. Jake's been watching lots of sports...he saw his first LSU game with his dad last week, and of course watched the first OU football game of the season with my family. Since OU won by 70 points it was a great inaugural game for him :) He's also seen quite a bit of the US Open. Ty and I love to watch the tournament every year so we're teaching him to cheer for Andy Roddick and James Blake. I'm sure Jake will be playing tennis himself before we know it.

The picture is of Jake with my dad (his Poppy). My parents took many more pictures over the weekend so I'll add those when they send them.
