We spent a delightful long Memorial weekend at Caddo Lake with Ty's family. We stayed at his brother's lake house with Mark, Destin, and Nash and the rest of the family came out to visit throughout the weekend. The kids played outside in the baby pool, blew bubbles, chased the dog, and just enjoyed the outdoors. Ty spent lots of time fishing in his kayak, and I finished a book, started a new one, and got some sun. We celebrated my sister-in-law, Jolie's birthday on Sunday and Mark cooked wonderful green chili chicken sandwiches, and Jake helped me make her a cake. Monday Eric and Jill came over and cooked out ribs for us and Pops and Nonnie made a fresh blackberry cobbler. Yum!
Another wonderful event that happened was Jake turning the potty training corner. I bought him a M & M's machine while we were there and told him he could only turn the knob and get candy after he went potty. He pretty much went all three days we were there in the potty with few accidents. I think it also helped that he had so much encouragement. Every time he went potty, he would individually tell everyone around and got lots of praise. We should have come to the lake weeks ago!
The baby pool succeeded in keeping Jake cool outdoors. Grace and Nash played so well together. They chased each other, tickled each other, and gave each other lots of kisses. I love how much they love each other! The kids also liked going on boat rides, and Jake loved going out in the kayak with his daddy. It's nice to leave the city for awhile and just relax.
