We got wonderful news about Grace's heart yesterday…it is perfectly healthy. The echo showed it looked normal with no abnormalities. We are very excited that her murmur was just innocent. The next hurdle is getting her a MRI so we can rule out the possible brain disorder. When the doctor first heard the problem a month ago, she told me that imaging would call me to schedule a MRI in a few days. Once a week for the next three weeks I called with various responses as to why it hadn't been scheduled. Finally, the doctor's assistant told me Grace needed her echo first to determine what sort of anesthesia to use for the MRI. If she had a heart defect, it would change what medication to use so we had to wait. After her echo was done on Tuesday, I called to schedule the MRI but the imaging department had no record of Grace and said they had never been faxed the orders. About 10 calls later and after being on hold for hours, I determined today that the cardiologist's staff had been faxing the orders to cardiology imaging (not neurology) and the neurology imaging department had been calling neurology to ask about Grace. Apparently, the different floors at the hospital do NOT work well with others :) At 10:00 this morning both departments were going to call me "right back." Still waiting…Eventually, we will get this scheduled, although I'm imagining that when we do get to schedule it, the wait will be a few months. The cardiologist said in looking at the echo that the blood flow from the heart to the head is not turbulent at all so that bodes well for her not having the malformation. Nevertheless, I'm thankful the kids have a cautious doctor who wants to be make sure Grace is 100% healthy.
In other news, we're having a great week in anticipation of my favorite holiday, Easter. Jake had his first egg hunt of the season yesterday at school and has a few more this weekend. Grace loves carrying her basket around the house collecting Jake's eggs from his school party. The weather has been beautiful and we've been trying to take advantage of it and spend a lot of time outside! Here are some various pictures from the past few weeks:
We went to the Bluebell Factory with our Children's Ministry at church over Spring Break. It was a great field trip, and Jake and Grace especially loved getting to sample the ice cream. It was hectic with both kids, and this is the only good shot I got that day.
Our playgroup got together to make Easter cookies to take to some elderly friends. The kids loved it, but licked the frosting and their fingers too much to sanitarily deliver the cookies so they just got to eat them instead :) We'll have to come up with another idea to take to some of the widows at church later this Spring.

I'm pretty much in love with putting Grace in cute summer bloomers :)
