Days 3 and 4

(Right out of surgery in the ICU)

Jake moved into his own room on the 15th floor on Friday. He had another rough day Friday and wasn't too happy with us. My parents brought Grace up to visit with him and he said he didn't want to see her, "he'd rather have some chocolate milk." She might of been a bit overwhelming :)

Saturday started out slow, but by the evening, we had our Jake back. One main problem Friday night and Saturday was that he refused to take his medicine. They have him on a beta blocker to control his heart rhythm to prevent repeat SVT, but twice he made himself gag and throw it up. He refused pain medicine as well. He's always taken medicine well before, but this didn't taste too great, and he decided he was done with it. Our nurse was patient though (it turns out she's also our neighbor who lives in the neighborhood across the street from us) and got the pharmacy to put it in pill form and crush it in chocolate pudding. He finally took the pain meds last night and he perked up within 10 minutes. He's walked a bit, taken numerous wagon rides around the floor, and has been geniunely laughing and smiling.

We should have a another good day today and get discharged tomorrow, hopefully. We need the results of him Holter monitor and the surgeon to take out the leads in his chest. We'll then come back in a few days for post-op and then meet with his cardiologist in a few weeks.

I'll wait and let Ty explain the results of the surgery (he's much better at that than I). We know that Dr. Heinle was pleased with the results and believes he better understands how the membrane has been growing. We'll be anxious to hear the post-op news as well and see how the follow-up tests go.

Here are a few pictures from my phone. I've taken more with my camera, but I forgot the connecting cord so I can upload those when we get home. Jake's loved all of his visitors and having his grandparents here. Aunt Destin, Uncle Mark, and Nash got to come this weekend, too. We're just continually thankful for our family and friends and our loving God.

This was actually just before surgery when he was ready to go back.

Please know that we are praying for you guys. I know it is probably still hard for him and you guys as well. Isaiah has had a runny nose/cough and I have had lots of drainage lately. Thus, we are keeping our distance. Let me know if I can help.
