S is for slow...
Last week we learned about the letter "s" here at Mommy Pre-school, but I'm pretty sure it represented Jake's slow recovery. He has definitely had a harder time recovering after this surgery. I think last time went SO well that I just assumed that was his norm. I think being older and also the medication he is on played a big part in the rough time he's been having. Most of last week he either wanted to lay on the couch or in bed and was uninterested in eating or playing. When I would ask him what was wrong, he would just tell me he was sad. That pretty much broke my heart. By Friday he had no energy and one reason was because he had eaten so little. He was even turning cookies down...no appetite at all. It honestly scared me, but when I had decided to call the doctor and let her know what was going on, he started perking up and really had a good weekend. He started eating some, mostly waffles, and even agreed to go outside and play on Saturday. Sunday was even better and by Monday we had our Jake back! He and Grace laughed and played all day: he played play-doh, wanted to have a dance party, thought Mommy school was fun again, and played outside most of the afternoon.
This week we're learning about "T" and I'm pretty sure that T is for turnaround!
Here are some "S" things we did last week:
We made shape trains--I know Grace is always naked in our craft pictures, but if you've met her, you'd know why :) Glue, paint, markers, etc...are much safer when she's just wearing a diaper!
Grace painted Sunflowers...I helped her make the flowers from her handprints, but she painted the stems herself. She LOVES to paint!
Superheroes! I had the kids dress up like superheroes one day. My friend Jennifer had given Jake a Batman build-a-bear outfit for FireBear. We got this smile from Jake...success!!!!

Stacking...This was all Jake. He wasn't eating, but he could make great towers with his lunchable :)

Sleeping...Supergirl played too hard and fell asleep while eating her lunch!

Sharing...I caught Grace feeding Ty's stuffed bobcat her leftover yogurt from lunch one day. I asked her what she was doing, and she said, "Mommy, the kitty was hungry!"
Spiders--Saturday Jake wanted to do school again so we learned about spiders and made spider masks and spider cupcakes.

SO CUTE!!! I was laughing so hard about Grace feeding the stuffed bobcat! Oh, two-year olds! I love this stage, but it's so hard! Glad Jake is doing better!
I am so glad Jake is feeling better! 'Mommy school' sounds like so much fun. Jake and Grace are very lucky to have such a great mom (and dad!). :) Also, the picture of Grace 'feeding' the bobcat yogurt is probably one of the most adorable pictures ever taken of anyone.
I loved looking at your pictures! I'm SOOO happy Jake is starting to feel better. Love y'all! Hope we get to see you at Easter
