Today is Monday and we thought we were going home today, but it's been postponed until tomorrow. They want to monitor Jake for one more dose of his beta blocker to make sure it doesn't cause any adverse reactions. The surgeon's fellow took out his pacing wires this morning with no problem at all. He's still wearing the EKG Holter monitor until right before we leave. The child life specialist gave him a cute monkey backpack he can wear it in so he doesn't have to constantly hold it. He had one more echo today as well.
We're now waiting for them to read the echo, monitor him tonight, and then hopefully release us in the morning. We'll come back in one week for a follow-up with the surgeon's team and to remove the stitches. We'll come back in one month for a follow-up with his cardiologist.
The past two nights he has profusely sweated while sleeping so they are a bit concerned with this. They've paged his regular cardiologist to see us in the morning to address this.
Jake did well today otherwise. We've walked the floor several times, ridden in the wagon (great exercise for Mommy), and played in the playroom. He finally ate something tonight at dinner and has upped his fluids. He still has his cute cartoon voice left over from the breathing tube.
Today was honestly a bit sad with all of our family gone and with the disappointment of not getting to go home. I'm missing my Grace something terrible. I am SO thankful for friends and family for caring for her so well, but she now thinks we all live at the hospital. I know she's so confused. I think we're a bit anxious for the echo results as well. The other thing I found out today is that they want Jake kept in the house for 6 more weeks (no church, school, playground, birthday parties, riding his bike, etc...) In my head, we were going to stay in for 3 weeks so this is a tad overwhelming to comprehend. Whew...I just need to take a deep breath and get out my Bible study tonight. I have horribly neglected that and I know it would help.
Here's hoping we go home tomorrow!

I am so sorry you have 6 more weeks of hibernation :( I am not sure we will survive :( We will have to get Skype up and running!
We are still praying for all of you. I hope everything came out alright with the ECHO and halter monitor. I will be out during spring break but will be back on the 19th. I'll check in then to see if you need anything.
