My little fish

This has been one hot summer so far and so very dry. We finally got our first rain in months this week which we desperately needed. I'm pretty sure hot + dry weather is the perfect combination for swimming! We have spent almost everyday in the pool and the kids are quickly turning into little fish (or turtles as Grace prefers to say).

Grace was scared of the water at the beginning of the summer but as of a few weeks ago, she'll swim all over the pool with her life jacket. She's loving "fwimming" (her words!).

Jake started swim lessons last week and has done GREAT! After agonizing over where Jake would take swim lessons because there are SO many choices in our area, we found someone to come to our pool and so Jake and his friend Jackson are taking them in our backyard which has worked out "swimmingly." (love my pun!) The first day Jake was scared but after that, he has worked hard and is learning quickly. He can retrieve dive toys off the bottom of the shallow end now as well as swim width wise across the pool. He's not afraid to put his face in the water and loves the goggles! He is definitely Ty's son as I'm pretty sure Ty would live in water if he could. Miss Torrie is teaching him to always swim to the wall of the pool and how to "walk" around the pool on the edge. Love that he's learning pool safety at our house! Normally, Jake is my little observer and he takes awhile to get acclimated to a new situation, but I haven't seen that with swim lessons.

The huge blessing in all of this is that even though he will probably be limited on most sports he can play due to his heart, swim team would be something he could do. God always provides!

Sooo cute! It's so wonderful to see Jake doing the things he LOVES instead of the things he hates! They're adorable!
