Jake got to return to pre-school today and what a fabulous day back he had! He's been a little apprehensive about going back since he hasn't really been around kids since January. Last night he said he would only go if Gracie could go, too. She's kind of his security blanket now which is extremely sweet and heart-warming :) When we got there this morning, we saw this great sign his teachers had made to welcome him back that the kids in his class had all signed. He went in and sat down and did just fine. Grace also went in and sat down and was extremely disappointed she couldn't stay. She really doesn't understand that she is only 2!When we came back to pick him up, he was all smiles for sure. They had an Easter egg hunt today and their Easter party and he had a wonderful time. Mrs. Nedra and Mrs. Ashlan (the best teachers ever!) said he was chattier today than he had ever been before. (Britanie, if you're reading this, you are going to be so happy about his speech progress. His vocabulary is improving literally daily. We can't wait to see you again, soon!)
Honestly, Jake was happier on the way home than I have seen him in a long time. He told me all about his day which was hard to get him to do before surgery and almost had a new confidence about him. I am so thankful for how incredibly nurturing Nedra and Ashlan are to Jake and how sweet his classmates are as well.
Day One=success!
